Community Service
By Gideon T. Rasmussen, CISSP, CRISC, CISA, CISM, CIPP

Being a cybersecurity leader is a blessing for me and my family. I'm thankful and have a focus on giving back to the community.

Coaching and Mentoring
I have 2-3 calls each Friday with college students, veterans, individual contributors and leaders. We learn from each other. In some cases a few conversations establish a long-standing relationship.

I present at conferences, chapter meetings, universities and corporate/government events. Each session provides practical advice in the areas of cybersecurity and operational risk management. The goal is to provide attendees with information they can use upon return to work.

Professional Development Resources
I have posted 20+ professional development pages to help people move forward with their careers. The most popular topics are How to Get Promoted, Performance & Development Plans, Annual Goals & Execution and Job Search Portfolio.

I've written 30+ articles to publish cybersecurity and operational risk content back to the Internet.

Honors & Awards
I am a veteran of the United States Air Force, a graduate of the FBI Citizens Academy and a recipient of the Microsoft Most Valuable Professional award. I have completed the Bataan Memorial Death March (4 occurrences). I have also received the President’s Volunteer Service Award (Gold).
