Always Be Closing!

There's a sales mantra that applies to cybersecurity, "Always be closing!" Risk exists when controls are not deployed. A mature cybersecurity program focuses on remediation with a sense of urgency and deployment of new controls as the threat landscape evolves.

This expression helps answer several questions:
  • How can I identify risk?
  • How can I mitigate risk?
  • How can I obtain a high performance rating?
  • How can I earn a bonus at the end of the year?
  • How can I prove myself ready now for promotion?
Businesses expect results. At the start of each day select three "must have" items from your ToDo list. That is the key to accomplishing your goals. There is an aggregate effect to consistent risk mitigation and performance over time.

Report progress and accomplishments within status meetings and a month before the executive performance calibration meeting at the end of the year.
